getsugar handles all e-commerce and credit card processing. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Charges appear on buyer's credit card statement as getsugar. We also take all the chargeback risk.
who is the seller? me or you?
getsugar can work in two ways. Typically, we act as an Agent selling goods and services on the merchant's behalf. In return for our marketing and selling, we charge a Marketing Fee and Sales Commission. Please see below for our current pricing. When we act as an Agent, you own the inventory up until the time we sell it on your behalf. We take possession of the inventory only to ship it. Additionally, we collect the appropriate sales taxes and remit these to you in a separate check.
In some cases, getsugar will accept trade for a getsugar offer. For example, we may accept trade in lieu of payment for other getsugar marketing services. In these instances, getsugar is the possessor of the inventory or services. We sell the products or services and keep the money. The merchant, however, receives all the marketing benefits of a getsugar offer.
Inventory
When we act as an Agent selling on a merchant's behalf, we do not own the inventory. We take possession only to photograph [if necessary] and to ship once the items have been sold.
how we sell services
getsugar sells services through getsugar.com. We mail a high-quality, creative and unique certificate specific to each merchant and that particular getsugar offer. The buyer then presents the certificate at the merchant's place of business to receive their previously paid for service. The merchant redeems the certificate.
Shipping
getsugar handles all shipping of physical goods and certificates. We ship via UPS ground. An email is sent to the buyer as notification of shipment. Included is a tracking number. We strive for timely shipping within two business days of the getsugar sale.
returns/refunds Refund and Return Policy for Buyers
Selling the highest quality goods and services from the best local merchants is what we're all about. If upon receipt an item is broken or defective, please return to us for a full refund. Items must be in original condition unworn and unwashed and with tags and Purchase Receipt.
We also know that sometimes you get your size wrong when you can't try it on. That's why we offer a 100% refund guaranty if the item is returned to us within 10 days of shipping.
Unfortunately, some people take advantage of generous refund policies. Therefore to be able to offer a generous refund policy, we have to limit our risk from serial returners. Each getsugar shopper gets 3 refunds per year. If you reach 3 refunds, you will have one refund erased from your account for each year you go without requesting a refund.
Refund and Return policy for Merchants
SugarInk will handle all returns and refunds. We will inspect the item prior to taking possession from you. The buyer then has 10 days from the receipt of item [as determined by UPS confirmation] to return to getsugar for a refund. We will process the return, refund the buyer's credit card [not including shipping] and return the item to the merchant. After the final return period, we do a final accounting and report to the merchant.

We take security very seriously and have implemented several layers of security to protect information.
sales tax
When we act as an Agent selling on behalf of the merchant, we collect the appropriate sales taxes and remit payment to the merchant in separate checks.
pricing
Pricing is simple.
We charge a 10% sales commission.
We also charge a Marketing Fee which is based on the total audience size as determined by unique web visitors. We guarantee the audience size and if we don't hit the number, you can do another getsugar offer for free. No magazine estimates of additional readers per issue. No wondering about how many people are actually in your target audience. No guessing. Instead, a guaranteed, highly targeted audience.
The Marketing Fee changes as our audience changes, but since it's a guaranteed audience, you'll always get what you pay for.
The Marketing Fee as of October 10, 2005 is:
$100 per getsugar offer.
for non-profits
getsugar is an excellent way to build awareness about your non-profit and your events. Plus, it can be a great way to generate donations and increase your email list.
Each month, we set aside space in getsugar offers for non-profits. All you need to do is create a package that will get attention [think of it as a good silent auction item]. We help you package it up and sell it. Your donating partner gets great marketing to a wide audience for the cost of their donation. Your cause gets exposure, email sign-ups [if you work with getsugar], and the revenue from the sale of the item/s.
And, another great reason to do it, we waive all our fees.
